SGA Hosts Fifth Annual 'Big Event' April 18
SALISBURY, MD---¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ students unite to help the community during the fifth annual Big Event community cleanup day, sponsored by the Student Government Association Saturday, April 18.
During the community service project, some 300 SU students help University neighbors in the ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ areas with household chores such as raking leaves, cleaning attics and painting.
“The Big Event is important for SU to continue because it lets the community know that we are here to help them,” said Julia Glanz, SGA vice president of University affairs. “The community does so much for SU and this is just our way of saying ‘thank you.’ It is also important that we get to know our neighbors and they get to know us because we can learn a lot from each other. ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ is our home, too, and we want it to be as nice as it can be.”
In the past, students performed painting and maintenance projects at the Fruitland Community Center in addition to assisting at private residences. They also participated in a neighborhood beautification project in connection with ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ Neighborhood Housing Services.
