Pamela Z Continues Electronic Gallery's 'Sonic Arts' Series October 15-31
SALISBURY, MD---¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥’s Electronic Gallery continues its Sonic Arts Series with Pamela Z’s “Baggage Allowance” October 15-31 in Teacher Education and Technology Center (TETC) Room 128.
A special live performance featuring voice, live processing, samples and interactive video is 4 p.m. Thursday, October 18, with an artist talk following. An interactive music and performance workshop is noon Friday, October 19. All are in TETC 317.
World-renowned artist Pamela Z is a composer, performer and media artist who creates works combining a wide range of vocal techniques with electronic processing, samples, gesture-activated MIDI controllers and video. She has toured extensively throughout the United States, Europe and Japan.
Her work has been presented at venues and exhibitions including Bang on a Can in New York, the Japan Interlink Festival, Other Minds (San Francisco), the Venice Biennale and the Dakar Biennale. She also has created installation works and composed scores for new music chamber ensembles, dance companies and movies, including short films Bitter Moon, Blood of My Father and Juliet.
Her awards include prestigious fellowships from the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts, as well as the CalArts Alpert and ASCAP awards and a Djerrassi Resident Artist Program residency, among others.
