Omani Ambassador Al-Mughairy Speaks at SU November 4
SALISBURY, MD---Her Excellency Hunaina Sultan Al-Mughairy, Omani ambassador to the United States, made history in 2005 when she became the first woman appointed to an ambassadorship from the Middle East.
On Wednesday, November 4, Al-Mughairy continues ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥’s Ambassador Lecture Series, speaking at 7 p.m. in Holloway Hall Auditorium.
As an ambassador, Al-Mughairy has been a strong advocate for the U.S.-Oman Free Trade Agreement and has focused much of her energy on improving relations between the United States and Oman.
Prior to her post as ambassador, she served as the representative of the Omani Center for Investment Promotion and Export Development in New York City. She also has been the center’s director general of investment promotion. From 1991-1996 she was an advisor to the under-secretary for industry at the Omani Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
She also has served as that ministry’s director of industrial planning and research and director of industrial loans and grants. She has worked in the permanent mission of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations in Geneva and served as the assistant to the economic advisor to the Sultan of Oman.
