Brazilian Band Minas Performs Thursday, September 13, at SU

MinasSALISBURY, MD---One of the most popular Brazilian bands in the United States comes to ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ Thursday, September 13, as Minas performs at 7 p.m. in Red Square (rain location: Great Hall of Holloway Hall).

Featuring guitarist Orlando Haddad and pianist Patricia King, the Grammy Award-nominated group has appeared at prestigious venues including the Lincoln Center and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Its SU performance is part of the University’s “Brazilian Groove” fall cultural events series.

Minas was formed in 1978 with the goal of making Brazilian music more accessible in the United States. Its four albums have earned critical acclaim. Television viewers may also be familiar with Haddad and King’s original scores, which have been featured on programs on PBS and the Discovery Channel. The band has performed on the Food Network’s Emeril Live, and its founders have been interviewed on NPR’s Fresh Air and Radio Times, as well as Voice of America.
