Martinez Named SU Riall Lecture Speaker

By SU Public Relations

SALISBURY, MD---¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥’s E. Pauline Riall Lecture Series in education continues with William Martinez 7 p.m. Thursday, November 9, in the Jackson Family Auditorium of Holloway Hall.

Martinez performs SIGNing the Song: Power of Belonging, sharing his story through American Sign Language (ASL) paired with song. Growing up in a deaf household with little experience to TV, radio or movies, he credits his eighth-grade music teacher, Norma Freeman, with inspiring him to come out of his silent world and discover his voice through music.

In the past seven years, Martinez has spoken at state, regional and national conferences, as well as local school districts, with the goal of inspiring thousands of teachers to remember the incredible impact they have on their student’s lives.

Sponsored by the Samuel W. and Marilyn C. Seidel School of Education, admission is free and the public is invited.

Those planning to park on campus must register in advance for a free parking pass.
