SU Hosts Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration Sept. 16-17

SALISBURY, MD---¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month with “Festival Latino” Friday-Saturday, September 16-17.
Events include:
- September 16, 4-6:30 p.m., Blackwell Hall – CultureFest: This colorful activity features Mariachi Aguila DC, playing popular mariachi tunes and songs from Central America, South America, Cuba and the Caribbean. Local rhythm and blues and Top 40 band Uprizing also performs. The event celebrates the wide range of cultural organizations at SU, many of which will be represented. Food, games and prizes also are available. Rain location is the Wicomico Room of the Guerrieri Student Union.
- September 16, 7 p.m., Holloway Hall Auditorium – Rebolú: This ensemble forges new paths for Colombian music while remaining faithful to the African roots of the country’s Caribbean coast. Rebolú reinterprets Afro-Colombian rhythms such as gaita, tambora, chalupa and bullerengue through traditional songs and original compositions loaded with energy, history and danceability.
- Saturday, September 17, Noon-3 p.m., Fulton Hall Lawn – Festival Latino: The series’ namesake family-friendly festival includes vendors, entertainment and food. Radio Máxima will be on-hand, broadcasting live. Rebolú gives an encore performance from noon-1:30 p.m. High school seniors can register for a chance to win a $1,000 SU scholarship. Rain location is the Great Hall of Holloway Hall.
