Campus Health and Safety Update

Dear Members of the Campus Community,

As we prepare to welcome the class of 2026 and all students back for the fall semester, we are taking a close look at University procedures and practices to ensure that we’re keeping everyone safe.

Campus Safety and Security

The University’s senior leadership team continues to communicate with the ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ Police Department and our law enforcement partners to ensure that the appropriate security measures are in place on campus. We will also update our existing building hours and access, review our emergency preparedness plans and communicate trainings that are available for students, faculty and staff.

  • Most buildings on main campus are now card access only, meaning you will need your Gull Card to get in the door. We will be modifying points of entry to ensure that all access locations are closely monitored using live surveillance technology. More details on building access and hours will be available on the SU website.
  • The ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ Police Department continues to work with various offices across campus and with state and federal partners to monitor social media, chatrooms and other online platforms for threats against SU or members of our campus community.
  • Our Crisis Management and Emergency Operations teams undergo regular trainings to ensure that we are prepared for emergency situations on or near campus. More information is available to the campus community at www.salisbury.edu/police/emergency.

COVID-19 Precautions

Campus Health and Student Health Services continue to monitor the data and best available information regarding the ongoing pandemic. We continue to work closely with local, state federal and University System of Maryland health experts and medical professionals to ensure that our protocols are in line with best practices to keep our campus safe and open. Throughout the pandemic, we have been ready and able to adjust based on current conditions, and our medical staff remain at the ready to provide the guidance and resources necessary.

  • We strongly encourage all students, faculty and staff to remain up to date with their vaccinations. Contact your physician or Campus Health if you have questions about the vaccine. You can make an appointment to get the vaccine on campus by emailing CampusHealth@salisbury.edu.
  • If you are feeling sick and are exhibiting COVID-like symptoms, stay home and contact Campus Health.
  • KN95 face masks are available for free at the Guerrieri Student Union Info Desk, and you are encouraged to wear them, particularly in heavily populated situations. Please respect those who choose to wear a mask. N95 face masks are also available after making an appointment with Campus Health.
  • Free COVID-19 testing is available in the rear of Blackwell Hall (entering from the parking lot) during regular hours. If you have been identified as a close contact, you are required to test. Otherwise, please email Campus Health to schedule a test.
  • Student Health Services is available to see students for a wide range of healthcare needs. Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (including summer).

Mental Health and Wellness

We are also reviewing programs and resources for our students, faculty and staff to ensure that necessary support is in place for the mental and emotional well-being for members of our campus community. During these demanding times, we are committed to providing a caring and compassionate atmosphere for everyone at SU.

  • The Counseling Center is available to students for appointments and walk-in visits for those who wish to speak to a counselor in-person for various types of appointments. Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (including summer).
  • is available 24/7 to students who wish to speak with a counselor in a virtual setting or after regular business hours.
  • The Employee Assistance Program is available to faculty and staff who are looking to access mental health resources through the University.
  • Students or employees in crisis should dial 988 to speak to someone immediately.

In the coming weeks and months, we will communicate more details about various programs and resources on campus to keep everyone safe. In the meantime, if you have questions, concerns or feedback, please respond to this email or contact a trusted friend, colleague or supervisor.
