SU Relay For Life Raises Over $20,000 for American Cancer Society
SALISBURY, MD---Over 50 ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ faculty, staff and students recently came together for ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥’s 20th annual Relay for Life to benefit the American Cancer Society (ACS).
The SU Relay for Life Committee, led by sophomore Courtney Harris, raised $20,010. All proceeds benefit cancer research, education, patient services and advocacy programs. To date, SU’s Relay For Life has raised over $1 million for ACS initiatives.
“The support received from the united campus community was a moving example of how - together - we can make huge progress toward a world without cancer,” said Debbie White, senior community development manager for the ACS.
New this year, SU deans, faculty and staff exceeded fundraising goals during a “Want a Piece of Me?” pie throw event. The traditional Luminaria ceremony, a tribute to friends and family members lost to cancer and honoring of survivors, also was part of this year's event, which was scaled down due to SU’s ongoing COVID-19 precautions.
SU’s Relay For Life has consistently been ranked among colleges across the nation and has received multiple awards for its efforts.
