SU Presents Pulitzer Prize-Nominated Play 'Everybody'
SALISBURY, MD---¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥’s Bobby Biron Theatre Program presents Branden Jacobs-Jenkins’ Everybody Thursday-Sunday, October 22 (preview) and 23-25 (regular performances), in a virtual setting.
Directed by Matt Saltzberg, curtain is 7:30 p.m., 2 p.m. Sunday. Thursday’s performance is an invited final dress rehearsal, offering a behind the scenes look at some of the technology being used for the production.
The live-streamed performance is rehearsed and performed remotely as a theatre/film hybrid. Partnering with Tláloc López-Watermann, founder of Light Conversations, a lighting and video design company based in New York, the production uses a new program, StreamWeaver.
The play was a finalist for the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for drama. This modern riff on the 15th-century morality play Everyman follows characters as they journey through life’s greatest mystery – the meaning of living.
While some roles are predetermined, five actors – Bailey Hanna, Savannah Johnson, Brandon Lill, Loralie Szymkow and Leonard Wright – will play one of five roles, determined by lottery after the performance has begun. Other cast members include Josh Miller, Nick Melczarek, Aubrey McCaffrey, Destiny Mosley and Aaron Cave.
Assistant director and dramaturg is Natasha Hawkins. Costume design is by Imari Pyles. Technical coordinators are John Raley and Michael Desper. Skylar Vann stage manages, with Missy Dee as assistant stage manager.
Sponsored by the Music, Theatre and Dance Department, the production is available for free with registration at the box office website.
