SU AmeriCorps Programs Receive Over $200,000 in Grant Funding

AmeriCorps logoSALISBURY, MD---The Maryland Governor’s Office on Service and Volunteerism recently announced more than $200,000 in grant funding for two AmeriCorps programs at ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥: ShoreCorps and HOPECorps.

ShoreCorps — focusing on youth mentorship, advocating for aging adults and growing the capacity of local non-profits — received $184,907, representing its 24th year of funding.

HOPECorps received $53,226. Founded in 2017, the program focuses on heroin and opioid abuse prevention and education.

The grants were given by the Corporation for National and Community Service, funding the programs’ 2018-19 service years. Additional funding comes from matching funds provided by AmeriCorps service sites and in-kind contributions from SU.
