Art and Science Film Series Mondays, October 1-22 at SU

Arts and the MindSALISBURY, MD---¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ explores the collaboration between creativity and logic during its “Intersection of Art and Science” PBS documentary film series Mondays, October 1-22.

All are shown 7 p.m. in the Great Hall of Holloway Hall. Post-screening discussions follow. Films include:

October 1 - Art and the Mind Part 1: Creativity: This two-part special reveals the crucial impact of the arts on the human brain and explores the role of the arts in brain development through music, dance, painting, poetry and theatre.

October 8 – Art and the Mind Part 2: The Art of Connection

October 15 – NOVA: The Original Revolution: The centuries-old tradition of origami — folding two-dimensional paper into three-dimensional shapes — is inspiring a scientific revolution. The rules of folding are at the heart of many natural phenomena. Now, designers and engineers are applying these principles to reshape the world in endeavors including new pharmaceuticals, space missions and even micro-robots.

October 22 – American Masters: John James Audubon: Drawn from Nature: This film creates a portrait of art and science in the first decade of the 19th century, chronicling the life and achievements of the famed artist and naturalist.
