Admissions Requirements For Transfer Applicants
To be considered for transfer admission, a student must meet each of the following qualifications:
- Have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale; for students who have attended more than one institution, a cumulative average from all previous college work attempted at regionally accredited community colleges and four-year institutions attended will be computed.
- Have earned a minimum of 12 transferable semester hours of college-level credit from a regionally accredited community college or four-year college or university.
- Have left the last institution of attendance in good academic standing and with a clear disciplinary record. The University’s competitive admission policy for entering freshmen, however, will apply to transfer students who have completed fewer than 30 semester hours of transferable credit and earned a 2.0 GPA at another institution. Coursework completed at SU as a non-degree student will not contribute to the 2.0 GPA and 12 hour requirement.
- Students denied admission may not enroll as a non-degree student until admission requirements are satisfied.
- Transfer students from accredited colleges enrolled in transfer programs will receive credit for the college-level work they have completed, with few exceptions. College Level Examination Program (CLEP) credit will be evaluated based on individual scores. Evaluations of students’ previous coursework will be forwarded to them within several weeks of their admission. After being admitted to the University, students will receive an evaluation of transfer credit.
- Criminal History Statement: ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ does not consider a student's criminal history during the admissions process for undergraduate or graduate admission to the University. Criminal history information may be reviewed post-admission by the University in considering students for access to certain programs that have criminal history requirements, for on-campus residency, in order to provide supportive services, or to alter an admissions decision based on the policies of the Maryland Fair Access to Education Act of 2017.
The Office of Admissions will respond on a rolling basis to transfer applicants, provided their files are complete and space is available. The University reserves the right to close admissions when the projected enrollment is met.
